The Man, The Legend, The King of Pop

I don't care if people think this post is cheesy, but I just had to take a minute to express my love for Michael Jackson. No matter what people have said and continue to say about him, it never bothered me, and frankly I never believed any of it. All I know is that almost every single one of us loved his music at one point in our lives. This man never had a childhood and gave up his life to give us the most amazing gift. I saw him in concert years ago and loved every second of it, he put on the most amazing show. My earliest memory in my childhood was when the Thriller video came out - I was probably only 3! They released a 2-hour behind the scenes 'making of' the video that we watched at my old house with my parents. We danced the whole time and were glued to the TV.

Anyway...totally cheesy but I always loved and will always remember Michael Jackson. I hope my kids learn to love his music as I did. I also hope his kids can live a normal life after all of this craziness! In the words of Michael "before you judge me, try hard to love me". RIP MJ!

I wasn't too sure about climbing up that hill in flip flops...

Horseshoe Bay

This past Saturday I decided it was time we started to explore the surrounding areas of Vancouver. We went to a quaint little town called Horseshoe Bay for lunch and then Whytecliffe Park for a little adventure with Marley. He climbed up the little 'island' and waded in the water. It was a gorgeous day and we plan on taking more little road trips to continue to explore Beautiful British Columbia!

The Pages Week in Vancouver

On May 30th we had our really good friends Eric & Emily come to visit us! They were here for a whole week and we had so much fun! We started their trip with a BBQ on the beach with them and some of our Vancouver friends. I took them sightseeing all week too - the aquarium, gastown, the lookout building, chinatown, richmond for lunch with sam, granville island, a walk through Pacific Spirit Park, and we ended the week with a good 4 hour hike through Lynn Valley Headwater. It was so good having them here with us, we were pretty sad when they left. Hopefully we showed them a good enough time so they'll come back to visit in the winter! hehe. My parents and sister, brother-in-law and nephew are our next visitors...July 1st! It will be good to have more familiar faces up here!

Abby Visits Us (& Vancouver)

Abby recently came to see us for her vacay, it was her first time to Vancouver and we showed her as many bars as possible! ;) Actually we did quite a bit. We went to the aquarium and saw some beluga whales, to Granville Island to walk through the market and eat lunch, up and down my favorite streets, picnic on the beach (where we got very sunburnt), evening at an art gallery full of naked ladies, picnic at the park, and probably the best part was crabbing in Deep Cove with our friend Patrick in his dingy "Nemo". We caught lots of crabs and cooked them right there by the beach. It was a gorgeous weekend too, Abby got to see lots of flowers still in full bloom, and how nice it is to sleep with no AC and the window open! (Though now summer seems to be in full effect and what I wouldn't do for a ceiling fan and AC!) To sum it all up - We had lots and lots of fun and hope she comes back to see us soon!!

Lynn Valley Park

Here are a few pictures from an amazing walk Sam and I took through Lynn Valley, which is in North Vancouver. I think Marley enjoyed it the most - he drank about a gallon of that fresh rushing water...now he expects it from us every time he goes to his water bowl - spoiled dog! ;)
The jumping picture was done especially for my sister-in-law Esther.
As you can see - living in Vancouver does not suck!

My Visit to Houston

I have some posts to catch up on! A couple of weeks ago I flew back to Houston to see friends and family. I had a great time hanging out with everyone and got to see how much my nephew has grown! He's a cutie as you can see! Also had some time to take some doggie portraits, little Thurman and Griff didn't mind posing for a few. It was a good trip but I was happy to come back to beautiful Vancouver, my husband and my dog!

Sam's 30th Birthday!

It's been a while since my last post. I've had some uploading problems. Sam's birthday was April 13th (Easter Monday). We ended up having wonderful weather and a great day! The whole weekend was great, I might try to post some pictures from it soon too.
I started that morning by hiding all of Sam's presents around the house and gave him clues so he could find his gifts. Who doesn't love a treasure hunt? That afternoon we went to Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park - the highest point in the city. It was gorgeous! They had all sorts of birds and plants and flowers. It was amazing. We ended up having lunch and wine at the restaurant there that had an amazing view of the city and the mountains. The cherry blossoms are out right now too which just makes my jaw drop every time I walk around our streets. But I think they go as fast as they come. (Oh, Sam also taught me how to make daisy chains while we sat in the park, it's really fun, ha!) That night we went to dinner at an awesome asian fusion place right near our house that we love. We had dessert there and I had them put a big "30" candle in it (fried bananas and chocolate!). Once we got home we played our favorite game - Rummikub and had another dessert...the candles didn't hold their flame long but I think Sam was a happy 30 year old and had a great day, as did I!
